What Do You Really Look Like?
Portrait Exchange Round Robin
(children ages 8-80, no experience needed,
simple drawing materials will be provided. And it's free!)
When and Where?
Saturday, July 25, 2009, 2pm
Sculpture Center, 44-19 Purves Street, Long Island City, Queens
http://www.sculpture-center.org - 718.361.1750
How does it work?
Step One: Each participant will exchange five minute timed portraits with partners seated across a long communal table. As the bell rings, they will move one seat over at the table, greet a new partner and do another five minute timed portrait. As the round robin proceeds, each participant will accumulate a group of their own drawings of the other people at the table, while they sit for portraits of themselves. Participants will keep their own drawings.
Step Two: When the round robin is completed, participants will create a wall-sized grid: portraits of the participants horizontally, portraits by them vertically.
“What Do You Really Look Like?” is a free workshop created by artist Peter Walsh for Michael Cataldi and Nils Norman’s University of Trash.
