I've been working with high technology equipment for many years. This equipment consists of various electronic elements with unique aesthetic qualities and textures which I call “personalities.” I started having ideas and visions of strange structures and their unique positioning on a two dimensional and three dimensional plane. During my lifetime electronics made a huge leap in advancement and development. The first time I have envisioned those elements in different form was at the age of ten. I didn't understand what it was but had a fierce desire to find out. This desire awakened my mind and pulled me into the world of high technologies leading me not only to pursue electronic engineering as a profession, but also use this language in my creative process. The creation of these art works allows me to "fall back into childhood," by playing and rearranging those pieces into a different aesthetic order.
Anatoly Sergeevich Karpov was born in 1947 in St. Petersburg, Russia.
He holds PhD in Electronic Engineering from the Forest Technical Academy, where he was a full time researcher and a senior faculty member in the Electronic Engineering Department for over 35 years. Anatoly Karpov has developed some projects in Russia. His work was published in magazines: “The Industry of today”, “Commercial of forest”, “Forest industry”, and was invited to as a guest on “600 second” on NTV (central TV station in Russia). After immigrating to the United States he continued developing his artwork.
