The succulents in Santa Cruz, California are exotic and strange. Nature's imagination tops everything. I was infected with Lyme disease long ago in New Jersey and have become fearful of being in nature, but I do love it. Gardens are spectacular and dangerous, vibrant and enveloping. Painting them gives me a safe and engrossing way to be in nature.
